Following the death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II, the UK Government's advise is as follows. “There is no obligation to cancel or postpone events and sporting fixtures, or close entertainment venues during the National Mourning period. This is at the discretion of individual organisations,”

It is intended to go-ahead with the Jack Attack Competition scheduled for Sunday 18th September. However, if any players feel that they are unable to take part, during this period of mourning, it may be necessary to defer the competition until another time, next season. Please contact Debbie Senior if you are unable to take part.

On Wednesday, six Ringwood Ladies took part in the NFWBA Club Championships, played at Waterside. Ringwood were represented, in this team event, by Helen Blackiston in the singles, Debbie Senior and Chris Dalrymple, pairs and Mavis Hammond, Sue Wyatt and Chris Pentelow in the triples. All three teams won in the morning to go through to the play offs in the afternoon. Waterside won all their matches and came 1st. The remaining 3 teams tied for second place. But when the shots were taken into account, Ringwood unfortunately, came 4th. Well done to all the ladies who took part. We may be a small club but the Ladies did Ringwood proud.

Congratulations to Helen Blackiston who was Runner-Up in the Final of the NFWBA Officers Cup Competition which took place, on Friday, at Fordingbridge Bowling Club. Helen's opponent was Denyse Halse of Lymington Bowling Club.

Sadly, this year, Dan and Helen are the only Ringwood members who reached Finals of competitions run by the Bowls Organisations to which we are affiliated. Well done to Dan and Helen. Unfortunately, Ringwood will not be represented in any of the upcoming NFBA and B&DBA Competition Final's Days.

The Club Competitions programme was completed over this weekend, with the following results.

Two Wood Singles. Winner - Pete Ward. Runner-Up - Lee Croad.

Men's Singles. Winner - Lee Croad. Runner-Up - Pete Ward.

The recent run of Neutral Green Semi-Final matches, being played at Ringwood, has now come to an end. I am of the opinion that Ringwood have not played host to so many such matches in the past. It's a feather in our cap that bowlers want to come to Ringwood and play the game.

Without mentioning everybody by name, accolades go to Paul Wright and his team for preparing and presenting the green and surrounds. Brian Harrington and helpers for providing sustenance and also those members who volunteered to set up and take down rinks for our guests. Thank you ALL.

Advance Notice. Ringwood's Dan Cookman and Luke Bell (Sports Centre) play their Bowls England Men's Junior Pairs Championship 1st Round match against Durham at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa on Tuesday 30th August at 12:30pm. Click HERE for the Match Schedule.
