Ringwood returned from a successful Sunday at Lyndhurst with two NFBA Champions.
Mike Whelan, Mel Barrett, Mark Brocklebank and Peter Ward won their Fours final 20-14 against the New Milton team comprising Clive Hoyal, Karen Winter, David Howell and Tim Winter.

Earlier, Derick Faulkner & Mel Barrett won their 2 Wood Pairs final 18-9 against Barry Dunning and Terry Dunning from West Moors.

Unfortunately, in the morning, Lee Croad lost his Champion Of Champions final against Andy Lowe of Lyndhurst, in a close match, 21-17. A slight touch of home advantage there?

Well Done to all.

Also on Sunday, two teams representing Ringwood played in the Lester Brunt Triples Tournament. The team comprising Steve Van Wyk, Derrick Fulker and Helen Blackiston won the Trophy, defeating a Bournemouth team 10-4. Our other team, comprising Fred Alderman, Doug Jones and Barry Vaughan also did well, reaching the semifinal stage. Well Done Ringwood.

Earlier in the week, on Monday, Pete Ward played in the Bowls England Men's 2 Wood Singles Championship at Royal Leamington Spa. He won his first round match, 14-11, against Andrew Owens (Bath Men's) and his second round match, 14-9, against Simon Jones (Reading). Unfortunately, Pete did not progress to the second day, losing 7-16 to Peter Wilkinson (County Arts) in the last 16. Well played Pete.

On Friday, Sharon Varndell played in two NFWBA Finals. In the morning she lost 21-11 to Shiela Leake (Lymington) in the Officers Cup (Enamelled Cup). In the afternoon she unfortunately lost again, this time, to Janet Prince (New Milton) in the Championship Singles (Bryant Rose Bowl), 21-16. Better luck next week on Day 2 of the NFWBA finals.

Overall last week, 7 League matches were played, Ringwood won 5 and lost 2.
