Weekly Bulletin 25th August

                                                                               The Graham Cup Mixed Pairs Tournament was held, on Sunday, on a very hot fine day. Round Robin games were played in the morning. After a wonderful lunch the semifinal and final matches followed the last session of round robin games. The final, reduced to eight ends due to the heat, was an exciting, very close match and after six ends the scores were level at 5 all. The last two ends were hard fought with the victors scoring 8 shots to 5.

A big thank you to Doug Jones who organised and ran the event, like clockwork, again.

 

 

Apologies to the ladies. Last week, I reported that the Ladies' 1st Team finished 2nd in the 'A' League. However, there was a rearranged match played on Monday between Waterside and New Milton. This resulted in New Milton ending the season on a total of 46 points which was enough to leap Ringwood by one point. Thus, the Ladies' 1st Team finished 3rd in the 'A' League.

Congratulations and Well Done to the Men's 1st Team who defeated Fordingbridge on Tuesday to reach the Final of the NFBA Presidents Trophy. Details below.

Lee Croad who defeated Alan Waters (Downton) to reach the Final of the NFBA Champion Of Champions.

Derick Faulkner & Mel Barrett who defeated Barry Vaughan & Allan Mason to reach the Final of the NFBA Over 65's 2 Wood Pairs.

Peter Ward, Michael Whelan, Melvin Barrett and Mark Brocklebank defeated Howell, Maltby, Knight, Philips and Hills (Highcliffe) 23-9 to reach the Final of the NFBA Fours.

On Saturday, the 1st Team fielded a new and star player for the future.

Derick Faulkner's grandson and protege, George, played number 2 to his Grandad on Derrick Fulker's rink which was won 19-18.

George had a great game and enjoyed every minute of the experience.

Overall last week, 5 League and KO Competition matches were played, Ringwood won all 5. Well Done.

Tuesday 20th August. NFBA Presidents Trophy Men's 1st Team versus Fordingbridge. 2 Home and 2 Away rinks. Ringwood won both rinks at Fordingbridge and lost one at home, by only one shot, to secure an overall win of 65 shots to 46. Ringwood will play Braeside A in the Final. Well done.

Thursday 22nd August. B&DWBA Ladies' Team at Home versus Milford. A great 4-2 win to maintain the Ladies' 3rd place position in the League Table.

Saturday 24th August. B&DBA Men's 1st Team at Home versus Broadstone Wessex. Despite a fine 14-0 win, Ringwood remain in 4th place, 7 points behind Branksome Park. Shots were 109-59.

Saturday 24th August. B&DBA Men's A Team Away versus Branksome Park B. Back to winning ways with a fine 2-12 victory. This win lifts Ringwood into 6th place on level points with Branksome Park B. Shots were 59-102.

Saturday 24th August. B&DBA Triples B Team Away versus Swanmore B. A great 2-4 victory, in a close match, keeps Ringwood in 4th place. Shots were 33-37.
