It is with great sadness that I have to report that John Green passed away yesterday.

Although John hasn't played bowls for a few years, he will be fondly remembered by long standing members of the club.

I will post details of John's funeral details in due course.

Our President Frank Senior is starting to get out and about after nearly four months of being bed bound.

He attended last Thursdays Management Committee Meeting and before he gave his input to the lively debates, Sharon Varndell presented him with the President's Chain of Office.

Frank is improving very steadily and is able to drive and get around with the aid of a crutch or two. He is hoping to be fully mobile by the start of the season and be back playing when the green opens.

Best Wishes Frank, for a Full Recovery

New Forest Bowling Association AGM

Following the NFBA Presentation Lunch of last Sunday, the NFBA AGM was held at Brockenhurst last Monday evening.

Pictured above is the new NFBA President, our very own Derick Faulkner, who was presented with the Chain of Office by John Howell of Lyndhurst. Also pictured on the left is the new NFBA Vice President, Ken Carter of Lymington.

The main points from the AGM were:-

The proposed change to restrict the maximum of female competitors per team to two, in the Pritchard Memorial Trophy, was passed.

The proposed change to Rule C.5(b) was passed. This means that if a team plays one player short they will play 6 woods against 9 woods on each end. There will be no reduction in score of the defaulting team. An amendment was passed which changed the proposed playing sequence in each end. This wording of this amendment to be advised.

The proposal for the eligibility for the Knockout Competitions be changed to President's Trophy - Club 1st Team, Ringwood Trophy - Club 2nd Team and Ivor Foumy Trophy - Club 3rd Team, was lost.

Ringwood Brewery Tour

On Thursday, seventeen of us enjoyed a wonderful evening being shown around the Ringwood Brewery. Unfortunately, Frank Senior and Debbie, the main organisers of the trip, couldn't attend as Frank is still in hospital. Our Tour Guide, Hayden, gave an introductory talk after his daughter Haley handed out the introductory drinks. The tour was very informative and the very knowledgeable Hayden told many stories about the brewery, it's personnel and a few Ringwood characters. Following the walkabout tour we returned back to the bar to sample the delights of the Ringwood Brewery products.

Presentation Night

A good turnout of 54 members had a very enjoyable evening on Friday at the Ringwood Conservative Club.

After a lovely meal, of either pork, beef, Salmon or Vegetable Lasagne the entertainment got under way.

The Main Quiz followed by Playing Card Bingo, the Music Quiz and the raffle preceded the Presentation of Trophies, by our President Sharon, to those Winners and Runners-Up who were present on the night.

An event like this takes much organisation and it is with great thanks to those mentioned below whose efforts made for a successful and enjoyable evening.

Debbie Senior, Frank Senior and Jenny Blake for organising and running the event on the night. Unfortunately Frank was not present on the night due to illness. Get well soon Frank.

Paul Wright and daughter Jemma for devising and running the Quizzes.

Jo Senior for running the Music Quiz.

Jenny Blake and Sue West for running the Raffle.

Doug Jones for organising the Trophies.
