There was a good turnout of members who attended the Club Spring Meeting at the end of March who experienced a very convivial evening. Also, Doug Dalrymple was busy selling tickets for the popular 50/50 Club lottery. Two draws have already taken place this year and the winners are. Saturday 5th April Brian Tester, drawn by Lee Croad and Saturday 12th April Chris Pentelow, drawn by Richard Blackiston.

Just a reminder that the 2025 Club Handbooks are available for collection, in the clubhouse, for those playing members out didn't attend the meeting or forgot to pick up their Handbooks.

The number of volunteers, who turned out for cleaning and painting of the Green Surrounds, last week, was lower than hoped for. However, the job was done, with special thanks to Helen Blackiston, Peter Smith, Geoff Robins, Dave Lewis, Chris (on Thursday) and yours truly, and dusted on Friday.

Hopefully, there will be a better turnout for ditch preparation which takes place on Wednesday 16th April. See earlier email for details. At the time of writing we only have 5 volunteers.

As you will notice, Club and Green maintenance carried on during the closed season with special thanks to Paul Wright, Mel Barrett, Neil Richmond, Brian Harrington and Chris. If I've left anybody out please let me know and I will edit.

Volunteers are still required to help Paul with mowing of the green on a weekly basis, so please contact Paul if you are able to help and join the mowing team.

Short mat bowling has never been so popular since COVID. Many members played in the clubhouse during the winter and two Ringwood teams competed in a short mat open competition at Atherley Bowls Club, Southamptonon on the 23rd March. The report from Malcolm Chater on how the teams faired, follows.

'Last Sunday Helen Blackiston, Peter Smith and myself played in a short mat open competition at Atherley bowls club in Southampton. There were 4 groups of 6, so we were guaranteed 5 round robin games of 7 ends each. Unfortunately, we didn't make the top 2 positions in the group to go forward into the main event, but we went into the remaining 16 teams in the Plate competition. We played 5 ends each game and kept winning, moving into the quarter finals then semi final and finally the final. Unfortunately, we lost that game, but after 55 ends played during the day, it wasn't a bad effort. We also had another team there made up of Brian Tester, Mavis Hammond and Sue Wyatt. Sadly they didn't fare quite as well.
Anyway, just thought that I would mention it as we were quite chuffed on our achievement.
Regards,
Malcolm

We now have new scoreboards at the club. Well done to Chris who has been continually improving their design to make them as ergonomically perfect as possible. The pictures below show President Pete Smith officially receiving the new scoreboards and also show what both sides of the scoreboards look like .
