Afternoon Tea Party

 Afternoon Tea Party

On Friday afternoon, around 35 members and guests got together for a tea party organised by Karen and Maureen with support from Helen, Sooki, Ken and Peter.

The clubhouse was well decorated by the team with assistance from Mel, Brian, Neil and Paul who rolled back the short-mat mat and set out the tables.

The members sat down to sandwiches and tea followed by cheese scones, plain scones and fruit scones with cream and jam. There was a healthy debate as to whether it should be jam first or cream first. It was left to personal preference. After scones there were cakes arranged on cake stands.
The afternoon was finished with a raffle run by Ken and Peter and finally a game of Heads or Tails that was won by Den Newham.

Thanks go to the members who helped clear up and wash-up the dishes.
A good afternoon was had by all.

The Entry Forms for the 2025 B&DBA Competitions are now on the club noticeboard.

They will be removed for submission on the 28th of April.

Club Membership is sadly down this year. It currently stands at 61 which includes all playing and social members who have renewed their membership and also those who have indicated that they will be renewing this year. Last years total membership was 83.

Sadly, due to the reduction in numbers there will not be a third, 'B', Team playing in the NFBA League Division 5 this year.

The Club Open Days, where we hope to recruit new members, has been put back to a warmer part of the season for this year and coincides with the Bowls England BOWLS' BIG WEEKEND.

Our Open Days  will take place during the Spring Bank Holiday on Sunday 25th May and Monday 26th May.

Please come along to impart your Bowls Knowledge and Experience and help grow our membership.

Sadly, last year the Harry Wright Competition was not well supported and so changes have been made to make it more viable.

The duration of the competition has been cut down from running throughout the season to 10 weeks and will start on Monday 26th May, following the Open Day event. The Competitor with the Best 6 Scores will Win and there is no negative scoring.
