It is with great sadness that I have to report that Barrie Horne passed away on Tuesday 12th November.

Barrie joined Ringwood from Braeside and was a renowned and active bowler who was an extremely popular member of jovial character and great wit.

Although Barrie hadn't played bowls since before Covid, he was granted Life Membership in 2019 following two periods as our President.

On one occasion, he saved the life of an opposition player at Alexandra Park who had collapsed on the green. He administered CPR, for some time, until the Emergency Services turned up to take over and take the player to hospital.

Barrie will be very much missed and will be fondly remembered by long standing members of the club. Our deep condolences go out his family and friends.

The following was received from Barrie Horne’s step son.

'I thought I should let you know Barrie Horne passed away on Tuesday 12th November, I know he was very involved as a member some years ago.
