In the recent B&DBA Championships, Helen Blackiston competed in the Singles, as the Club Champion, and a fours team comprising, Chris Dalrymple, Chris Pentelow, Patricia Reeves and Debbie Senior, also took part. The fours team won through to the Semi-Finals and Helen qualified for the Final. These matches will be played at Argyll BC on Monday 24th July. See details below for more information.
 
Congratulations to Dan Cookman who has been selected to represent England in the British Isles Under 25 International Series of matches being held at Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club, in Wales, on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September. Scroll down to the previous News Item for more information.
 
Peter Ward's good form continues. On Friday in the Senior Singles Area Final at Banister Park, he defeated Paul Sidwell (Follands, Hamble) 21-18. The next stage is the Last 32 at Leamington vs Stuart Evans (Devon).
Also, yesterday morning 22nd July, he and Sharon Varndell played the Last 32 of the Bowls England at Banister Park, defeating Tina Chambers & Gary Starks (Milton Park, Portsmouth) 19-14. Their next stage is the Last 16 at Leamington Spa versus winners of the Kent Area Final.
His qualifications for Leamington Spa are now secure in the 2 Wood Singles, Mixed Pairs, Senior Singles, Senior Pairs and Senior Fours.

Tuesday 18th July. NFWBA Ladies Team No match. Break in League programme.

Tuesday 18th July. NFBA Men's 1st Team Away versus Brockenhurst. Not a good result against a Brockenhurst team who are second to bottom. Rinks 3 - 1. Shots 75 - 65. Points 7 - 1.

Thursday 20th July. B&DWBA Ladies Team at Home versus Wimborne. A great win and the Ladies rise one place into 3rd in the League. Rinks 2 - 0. Shots 52 - 27. Points 6 - 0.

Thursday 20th July. NFBA Men's A Team. at Home versus Downton. With one match to go, the A Team avoid the relegation zone in this close, exciting, match where all aspects were shared.  Rinks 2 - 2. Shots 73 - 73. Points 4 - 4.

Thursday 20th July. NFBA Men's B Team Away versus New Milton D. The B Team rise, one place, to third following this great win in a close game. Rinks 1 - 1. Shots 30 - 34. Points 1 - 3.

Friday 21st July. FBA Men's 1st Team at Home versus Fordingbridge A. This rearranged match from Week 11 resulted in a great 7 point win for the 1st Team. Rinks 3 - 1. Shots 79 - 56. Points 7 - 1.

Saturday 22nd July. B&DBA Morning Mixed B Team Away versus Argyll C. The B Team return from Argyll deeply wounded by this encounter but stay in 4th place. Rinks 2 - 0. Shots 72 - 9. Points 6 - 0.

Saturday 22nd July. B&DBA Mixed 1st Team Away versus Bournemouth. The 1st Team travelled to Bournemouth only to be told that the green could not be used, in the rain, due to the imminent Bournemouth Open. They then returned to Ringwood.

Saturday 22nd July. B&DBA Mixed A Team at Home versus Knyveton Gardens A. The A Team found it difficult in this rain drenched match. Despite losing, they stay above Knyveton Gardens but back in the relegation zone. Rinks 1 - 2. Shots 44 - 68. Points 2 - 8.
