As you may or may not know, Audrey Merrington is in Bournemouth Hospital. She is most likely to be there for a couple of more days in order for the doctors to sort out her medication. She would love to see a friendly face or two and so, if you would like to visit her, the visiting times are between 2pm and 8pm in Ward 23.
Today, the Men's 1st Team travelled to Atherley to play Cove in the semifinal of the Bowls Hampshire County Club Championship. The hard fought match, however, resulted in Cove going through to the Final. Ringwood won one rink, drew another and lost two with the overall score of 95-75 in favour of Cove. Our Club Captain Derick Faulkner said after the match, 'Despite the loss, it was a great achievement for Ringwood to reach the County Club Finals, the first time we have done so.'

On Saturday, Ringwood Bowling Club hosted its first session of youth bowling.
Coaches Jenny Blake, Barry Vaughan and Debbie Senior were there to welcome any young people wanting to try bowling. Five were expected but only one turned up. Fortunately, Barry brought his grandson, Charlie age 11, as our first youth bowler.
The two-hour session with a break for tea and biscuits was great fun and a complete success as he wants to come again and plans to bring a friend.
We ended the session competing against each other with obstacles, skittles and jacks at different lengths with the scores ending as Barry 27, grandson 22, Jenny 14 and Debbie 13. In my defence the skittles are more difficult than they look and score the most points!
We all look forward to the next session on Saturday 10th August with Jenny and Barry looking after things.
This is a trial and holidays need to be taken into account, but I think this could be good for the future of new bowlers for Ringwood.

With the New Forest Bowling Association League season now complete, it's congratulations to both the Men's 1st Team who are Champions again and to the 'B' team for gaining promotion to Division 3. Sadly, the 'A' team came bottom of Division 2 and are therefore relegated to Division 3. So, next year, there will be two League matches between the Ringwood 'A' and 'B' teams.

Overall last week, only three League matches were actually played, Ringwood drew 1 and lost 2.
